DJ Insomnia, a one man show known for his unique style of blending records and cutting them up to create new sounds. At the early age of 7, DJ Insomnia was constantly listening to the radio as DJs Riz, Skribble, Funkmaster Flex, Danny Tsettos, Red Alert, and so many more tore down the radio waves with their quick switch of records and seamless blends. He was fascinated by DJs and their manipulation of records.
I remember staying up late at night and trying to figure out when they would bring the record in. Sometimes it was almost impossible because the mixing was too perfect!
It wasn’t until March of 1999 when DJ Insomnia was able to convince his Dad to purchase him two technic turntables and a mixer. Days, weeks, and months passed as DJ Insomnia sat in his basement, honing his skills to become one of today’s top South Asian DJs. The saying goes practice makes perfect. To this day, you can find Insomnia practicing in his basement as he did 20 years ago; constantly working on perfecting the craft in which he has fallen in love with.
In 2004, his love for Indian remixes was replicated through the release of “MIXOLOGY”. Mixology was DJ Insomnia’s first venture into the Indian remix market and was garnered by some as the top Hindi Remix CD of 2004. This project had earned him gigs all around the country, as well as his first event in Puerto Rico in 2005!

Since then DJ Insomnia has traveled and headlined in locations such as NYC, NJ, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Boston, Virginia, Washington DC, Atlanta, Tampa, Houston, Dallas, San Francisco, San Diego, Alaska, Puerto Rico, St. Marten, Los Cabos in Mexico, Cancun, Grand Cayman Island, Chicago, Cincinnati, Columbus, Kansas City, Indiana, North Carolina, and Delaware! Throughout the years, DJ Insomnia has become one of the most popular and highly touted nightclub djs in the country. You can see him in and out of clubs all around the country playing for crowds that reach 2000+. Through his club work, DJ Insomnia has had the pleasure of spinning alongside with some of today’s top talents. Talents like Hot 97′s DJ Camilo, Cipha Sounds, DJ Enuff, DJ Absolute, Mister Cee; Power 105.1′s DJ Clue & DJ Envy; MTV’s famed DJ Skribble, Tony Touch, India’s star mixer DJ Aqeel; UK’s Legendary Acts Bally Sagoo & RDB; Singers Jay Sean, Juggy D, Raghav, Kevin Lyttle, Wayne Wonder, T.O.K, Stagga Lee (Rock Your Body Mic Check 1,2), Apacha Indian, Rajeshwari, Bombay Rockers, and so many more!
In total, DJ Insomnia has published 9 mix tapes and continues to record DJ sets for the online public as well as printed mixed cds.
Today, DJ Insomnia is the co-owner of Premier Entertainment, a private event organization that provides top-notch entertainment to the greater South Asian community around the world. Along with co-owner, Darshan Kapadia, the entrepreneurs take pride in being amongst the most highly touted vendors in the South Asian wedding industry!
DJ Insomnia’s consistent work has earned him some spotlight, such as being featured on USA Network’s website for a special webisode interview with Royal Pains’ star Reshma Shetty. DJ Insomnia was Reshma’s exclusive Wedding DJ for all of her wedding events alongside Premier Entertainment’s MC Guru.

DJ Insomnia’s consistent performance has also allowed him the opportunity to perform at Weddings in places such as Puerto Rico, St Maarten, Cancun, Aruba, The Grand Cayman Islands, and Los Cabos Mexico.
